International Crochet: France & Filet Crochet

August 16, 2012

This fun night at the Gallery will be about exploring and enjoying French crochet, wine, cheese and pate! Join us as we kick off our monthly international crochet journey. Learn the history and fine art of crochet from around the world, beginning with France and Filet Crochet - traced back to Rouen and the French nuns. You don't have to crochet to come, but if you do you're welcome to bring a ball of yarn/thread and hook to join along, raise your glass and nibble on cheese and pate. “Filet crochet” is a term from the mid-19th century, when crochet began to copy lace patterns. This elegant technique will be taught and a simple pattern will be handed out that you can try at home. Some crochet experience recommended if you wish to learn the technique.

Pre-registration is requested. Anyone attending this event who also wishes to take the "Learn to Filet Crochet" class offered September 6, 13 & 27 will receive a $10.00 credit toward the September class.
