If the waters are calling you while you're in Natchez, then by all means, make sure you answer the call.
Lake Concordia is approximately 15 miles from Natchez and is an oxbow lake that was once part of the Mississippi River. It's surrounded by ghostly cypress trees draped with Spanish moss, it's about ½ a mile wide and about 7 miles in length.
Lake St. John is another oxbow product of the Mississippi. It's approximately 2,100 acres and fairly shallow for it's size. It too is lined with moss covered cypress and the sunsets on the lake are fantastic. There are many family owned camps and year round homes around the lake and public access is available at three launch sites on the lake's south side.
Old River is more of a popular fishing spot than pleasure boating, but if you truly appreciate raw, natural beauty, and have hopes of spotting one of the many large alligators that reside there, then boating on Old River would be right up your wake.
