Great Big Yam Potatoes Old-Time Music Gathering & Fiddle Contest

Great Big Yam Potatoes Old-Time Music Gathering & Fiddle Contest returns for the twelfth year to the beautiful grounds of Historic Jefferson College near Natchez on May 17 and 18, 2019. The festival celebrates Mississippi’s unique brand of traditional string band and fiddle music. Admission is free.

The weekend begins Friday night, May 17, at 5:30 p.m. with a showing of the new documentary, "Great Big Yam Potatoes: The Film" by Dean Blackwell, Allen Blackwell, and Damien Blaylock. Then, at 6 p.m., there will be a potluck dinner on the grounds featuring open mic performances.

On Saturday, May 18, a day full of live acoustic music featuring some of the most region's best Old-Time musicians starts at 9 a.m.

Meanwhile, talented fiddlers of all ages will compete for over $1000 in cash prizes in the Great Big Yam Potatoes Old-TIme Fiddle Contest. 2019 contest rules coming soon. Rules for the 2018 fiddle contest can be found here: https://goo.gl/1iD4b5
